Two-year-old Kali Devotee at Kumbh 2013

This young girl came upto me as I sat contemplating on the ghats of Triveni Sangam. She turned two that day, her grandma informed later. What caught my eye was the way she continuously flicked her tongue outside. As I watched her in wonderment, her family members told me that she had been a Kali bhakt/devotee since long. I took out my pic of Kalighat Kali and showed it to her. She held the photo in utter reverence, touched it to her forehead and said Jai Ma. Her family comes from a village near Varanasi. They shared their meagre meal with me that night as this little girl kept feeding me small bits of sweet homemade biscuits. I felt Mother had let me know that She walked with me.
